British Amplifiers
Supply of Dominators in the special colours is limited to the small amount available. At this stage we don't even know how many can
be bulit. Sad to say, once it's been used, there will be no more.
These special colours are offered as an optional extra over the
usual range. All other features remain the same including the EL-AC Alnico speakers option.
The price option of upgrading to these
very special limited colour schemes is 150 GBPounds extra over the regular price making them 1349 GBP when fitted with Celestion G10
speakers or 1449 GBP with Electro Acoustic EL-AC 10 Alnico speakers

It has always been the plan to make all 100 limited edition Watkins Dominators in the very sophisticated looking 60's
golden brown livery to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of this special amplifier. Then an unexpected discovery was made - a
small quantity of genuine 1960's Rexine with similar to original patterns.
Of course, this had to be tried out to see how it
looks, the results are on this page.
New Old Stock Rexine
First up, a classic Watkins blue and grey combination. With a quick
glance you may well think it's an original that just rolled out the Watkins factory fifty years ago, it's not, it's brand new. Not a fake, not a replica, it's a real Watkins Dominator that looks and sounds as good as a Dominator should.
Experts will notice that the "fleck" pattern in the rexine is a little different to the various types and shades used by Watkins, it does however represent a very good likeness and essence of the original much loved colour scheme. A matching control panel in blue with white graphics has been created to complete the look.
Watkins Blue Dominators are expected to be available from March/April 2011
Many Watkins amps were made in a red and grey colour scheme, but for some reason, the Dominator was not. The discovery of this bright red Rexine gave us an opportunity to see how the Dominator would have looked - had it ever been made.
It's thought that this particular shade and pattern of Rexine was used on the famous Dansette record players of the 1950's and 60's, we can't be certain of that, but can say it looks absolutely spectacular on a Dominator.
Charlie Watkins tells me there is actually a synergy between Dansette and Watkins designs. Charlie and brother Reg visited the Dansette factory during the early 1950's and it was Dansettes use of bright colours that inspired Charlie to use similar colours on his early amplifiers. It seems fitting that we call this design "Dansette Red".
Watkins Dominators in Dansette Red are expected to be available from February 2011
New for 2011 two beautiful new colour schemes!
